The ‘Get Your Artwork Noticed’ Routine

Posted on March 30th, 2010 in Artybuzz Tips by Richard

Routines are often seen as a bit boring and tiresome, but small routines executed effectively can yield very good results, and this also goes for adding your work to Artybuzz.

Below, we have created a few steps to make sure that adding your new piece of work is exciting for everyone else as it is for us to see one of your new creations. These quick and easy self promotion steps form a nice little routine that you can put into action after uploading a new piece of work to Artybuzz, so why not give it a go and see if you get some results:

Step 1 – Upload your new piece of work

You know the drill, but think also about the tags you add (make sure they are useful keywords) and also how to name your work if you don’t normally think about that.

Step 2 – Share it!

Sharing is a great way to get both people you know and news fans looking and buying your work. Go to your individual piece of work or your profile, and share it on twitter, facebook, myspace and any other websites that you use. This will let your friends and family know about your new work, as well as it showing up in many other streams online.

Step 3 – Bookmark it!

Bookmarking is a really good way of getting new people to find your work. Using social bookmarking services like Stumbleupon, Delicious and Digg means that you can bookmark your individual work pages and also your Artybuzz profile, which can then get picked up by people who have never seen your work before… meaning potential new fans and buyers!!! We provide links for you to share on these service on your profile and art pages, so be sure to give it a go and watch your work page visitor numbers increase!!!

Step 4 – Add to Groups

As well as getting people to notice your work and then view it on Artybuzz, it is also important to get it noticed on Artybuzz itself. One of the most effective ways of doing this is by adding it to relevant groups. People view and add work to groups all the time, so adding yours means it can be seen in other places on Artybuzz as well as in the normal results. To do this, you can simply search for groups using the search box at the top of each page to find relevant groups to add your work to. And if you can’t find the correct group, why not create your own?

Step 5 – Comment

Commenting on other people’s work is also another great way to get your own work noticed. As well as being able to view some great artwork yourself, commenting on it gets people replying to you and importantly looking at your work at the same time. This can lead to sales, so it’s worth doing a quick whip round of commenting every time you upload a new piece of work.

Have a go at following these steps and compare it to previous work uploads that you have done, you’re sure to get more visitors and sales, so let us know how it goes.

Commenting to get your own work noticed…

Posted on March 9th, 2010 in Artybuzz Tips, Marketing and Promotion by Richard

If you are looking to get your work noticed by more people on Artybuzz, possibly one of the best things you can do is comment on other people’s work. This comes down to the following…

People look at your work

If you comment on somebody else’s work, they are very likely to both reply to your comment and also take a look at your profile and work. They may like your work and also comment on it themselves, giving you good feedback and creating more interest on your page for others to join in and contribute on.

People may buy from you

More people viewing your work means there are more people who may buy from you. So the result of commenting on other people’s work means that more traffic/viewers are driven to look at your own… who may then turn into buyers.

People may tell others about you

Another great advantage of having more people view your work is that they tell others. People tell other’s either face to face or over twitter, facebook, digg, stumbleupon and many other sharing platforms. We have the statistics for this and know that people visiting Artybuzz share an average of 300 times each week, so people are definitely telling others about great work and artists on this site.

For increased success on Artybuzz, take advantage of the comments system and use it to get your work out there and get it noticed by commenting on other people’s work. Doing this for 10 mins each day is a great way to start making connections on Artybuzz, give it a try for a few days and see the results you get.

Naming Your Artwork- How names can affect your success

Posted on February 1st, 2010 in Artybuzz Tips by Richard

There are a few things that you should think about when naming your work on Artybuzz. Your name or work title can have a number of effects on your work being both found and sold…

Funny or Interesting Titles

A funny or interesting title can often give your work something more and make it a lot more appealing to buyers, check out ‘You Think You Had a Bad Day‘ by John Willis for example, quite a simple picture is made into something amusing which is likely to increase it’s appeal to buyers. Interesting or funny names like this one give your work some personality and may increase it’s popularity and sales.

Descriptive Titles

This is another option that is completely different from that above. Giving your work a descriptive name is more effective at bringing in people to find your work from search engine searches. For example, Joe Murtagh has an image simply called ‘Howard Moon – The Might Boosh‘. In the past week, 20 people have found this through Google when searching for ‘Howard Moon Art Print’.  If you type it into Google yourself you will see that Artybuzz.com is 2nd place in the results, meaning a lot of people looking for a specific item can find your work.

It is worth bearing in mind, especially if you have painted or photographed something that people may be searching to buy, that giving it the actual name of what it is could be a good idea, because it may be found through the search engines and then purchased.

For example, landmarks and other well known monuments are good to name your work title simply as what they are, like Eiffel Tower, or Statue of Liberty. Also famous people are good to name as simply what they are. You can make your titles a bit more specific for better results, such as Eiffel Tower at Night for example.

Have a think about the above when naming your work anyway, and maybe try out different names to see if you get better results.

Using Facebook to Promote Your Artwork

Posted on January 8th, 2010 in Artybuzz Tips, Marketing and Promotion by Richard

Many of us use Facebook every day, but have you thought about using it to promote your work on both Artybuzz to all the people you know?

Lot’s of people sell work to their family and friends each year, and the people we know usually have an interest in the latest work we are producing. It seems almost perfect to combine the two, art and friends that is, and using Artybuzz and Facebook provides the ideal platform to get your work noticed by hundreds of people at once.

You may not have considered it, but on your friends list on Facebook you could have hundreds of potential buyers and people who have a deep interest in your work, so why not tell all those people about it? Every time I upload a new piece of work to Artybuzz I go to the page where it is being displayed and share it on Facebook using the ’share’ button at the top right of the page. It only takes a second but it puts a link on my wall and a link in all my friends news feed on Facebook, making my new piece of work viewable and available for purchase by hundreds of people.

It’s pretty quick a hassle free and is a great way to get your work noticed. You can do it with your profile page too so your friends can see all your work.
