Today we feature Chris Joyce, an exciting photographer with a very unique style, we asked him some questions about his diverse range of work.
Could you give us a little bit of background of how you got into photography and how long you have been involved in it?
I first got into photography at the age of 13, when I swapped my Technics turntable with friend for his Canon SLR camera. I went through many roles of film, learning as I experimented and then got into developing and printing my creations. I then joined a photography club full of oldies and very soon started to learn more about composition and photographic techniques. My favourite part as a teenager was the nude models, I was always at the front clicking away with my zoom lens enthusiastically!
What inspires your work?
The main focus of my creativity is a fascination with life and my observations of it.
We live in such a beautiful diverse World, where we have such a short period of time to absorb it’s wonder. No photographer can ever do justice to this, but with our human limitations we try to capture a moment preserved in time, to be gazed upon in the future.
Do you have any future goals?
My main focus is to build up my photography business, supplying a quality service to my customers in the Maidstone area of Kent and after many years as a musician and producer I am very realistic about trying to make a living from anything artistic.

Is there any piece of work that are particularly proud of?
The main piece of work I am most proud of would be ‘The three wise men’ taken in a back street in Egypt, where I tried to give the image a timeless feel and a dvd album I produced called ‘Night Tripper’ by Dream State, which features psychedelic visuals and photography set to techno/trance music.
What do you hope to get out of Artybuzz and do you get actively involved in the community?
Firstly it’s great to see a new website that is supporting all styles of art and not biased in their approach. It’s always easy to ask what can I get, rather than what can I contribute, yes it would be great to get sales and more exposure in this competitive arena, but I always come back to basics and ask why do I create? Because I love it and because art surpasses all barriers!
